Velocity Vehicle Group is committed to helping the growth of
our communities.

Velocity Vehicle Group has an in house training/ apprenticeship program named Truck Tech Institute.

TTI helps Los Angeles based high school graduates with job placement & training to start a career with our company. In our program we teach our students to be respectful, punctual & dependable. We train them on various brands such as Freightliner, Sterling, Western Star, Auto Car, Mitsubishi Fuso, Thomas school buses, & Hino. After graduating from our 2 year program they will move into a Mentor program where a Journeyman level technician will be responsible for the student for the next year. Making sure the student is following procedures & most of all working safely.

Velocity Vehicle Group has an ongoing working relationship with Long Beach City College. Scott Nalley our Dealer Trainer sits on the Board of Advisors & the Diesel program was developed in cooperation with Velocity Vehicle Group. We have also provided a training truck & tooling materials that students can utilize while in the program.

Most recently Velocity Vehicle Group has been heavily involved with Daimler Trucks North America & Universal Technical Institute to help create an elective course at UTI that is specific to Daimler Trucks North America products. Construction has begun at the Arizona campus & the first class will begin May 12. The second Campus has been identified to be in Sacramento Ca.
An additional out reach program that VVG has been involved with for the past 4 years is the P.A.C.T. program of San Gabriel Valley. P.A.C.T. stands for Parole and Community Team. This program meets the first Wednesday of every month. It is mandatory for men and women to attend this 3 hour class within one month of their release from prison. At our meetings we usually have between 80 and 110 men and women attending. There is a range of vendors from the D.M.V., Social Security, Victory outreach, to a number of apprentice programs attending these meetings. Our VVG representative’s role at these meetings is to speak for 5 to 10 minutes on what we look for when hiring an employee and also answer any questions they might have at that time.

VVG has hired 8 men from E.D.D. (Employment Development Department) which also is a partner at the PACT meetings. We have one young man that has been with us for 3 years. He will be off parole next month. This young man has turned his life around. He is a living example of how an individual with a checkered past given the right opportunity by a company that cares can become a productive citizen.

Similarly to the PACT program, VVG supports Father Greg Boyle’s efforts with the Home Boy Industries.

VVG was honored with a plaque on October 5th 2005 from The State of California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. This was for our efforts in promoting successful parolee reintegration. Our owners are champions of promoting this program in the professional and social organization and circles they associate in.
